Veraison is Happening!

It's that magical time of year where grapes are starting to turn color! Though it also marks the slow change of the season, that dreaded shift from warm sun to cold wind, it also initiates an exciting time for us on the farm. Grapes changing color only means that harvest is that much closer!

If your are not familiar with the process, Versison is the onset of the ripening of the grapes. The official definition of veraison is "change of color of the grape berries". (Yes, we call them berries.) Veraison represents the transition from berry growth to berry ripening, and many changes in berry development occur at veraison. Changes such as the skin thickening adding to the change of colors.

Though our family walks & works the vines daily, this time increases how often we our outside checking the grapes. Ultimately because we want to take advantage of that perfect window of ripeness allowing wine makers to produce the best bottle possible! Hard work is just around the corner BUT that means that Harvest Celebrations are also coming! Stay tuned for more updates from here in the vines!
